Today, at his home in Vicente López, Tulia, 53 years old, was detained by DDI personnel from the Province of Buenos Aires. The arrest occurred following a report by a woman identified as Carolina, who presented herself to the Justice on November 4 regarding events that took place between 2010 and 2013. Carolina recounted that, during her childhood at the Olivos club, her coach Tulia used to stay and travel with the athletes to competitions, asking that there be no accompanying parents on those trips.
In her testimony, Carolina mentioned that Tulia would ask her to stay in his room, giving her massages that included inappropriate touches. Three similar reports against Tulia, in which he was accused of non-consensual touching, led the Justice to determine that he abused his position of authority as a coach for minors.
One of the affected, Bosco, recalled an abuse suffered five years ago upon seeing a documentary about abuse allegations against American gymnasts. 'I don't know how to explain it, but it was something that happened, that I didn't control, I was 11 or 12 years old and I pushed it out of my life until a couple of years ago when I could see it, working and with people supporting me. The memory unlocked for me. And I thought: ‘This happened to me.’'
Coach Leandro Luis Tulia, from the Olivos Yacht Club, has been accused of abusing four women, including Olympic medalist Eugenia Bosco. The latter added: 'It happened when I was very young, sailing in an Optimist.'
